Food security is one of the important issues of sustainable development

Food security is one of the main issues in today's world and it should be sustainable and accessible to all members of society.
One of the most important issues raised in the side meetings in the roundtable on agriculture and food security in Asia was discussed from the perspective of the private sector with the presence of the representatives of the member chambers of the ACD and chambers of Iran.
In this roundtable, Ahmad Khatunabadi noted that it is very important to examine the food security situation of the society and identify the factors that affect it: food security is related to the variety of food products that humans should meet their basic needs during 24 hours a day.
The former professor of Isfahan University of Technology considered the main threats to food security due to climate change, drought and loss of agricultural lands and stated: One of the current issues and problems is the lack of water resources in the country, especially in the city of Isfahan, which has not been sufficiently addressed so far.
He mentioned the wars, social conflicts and natural disasters among the main threats to food security and said: For example, Isfahan has very good capacities in providing food, but currently, due to the soil issues we have lost the many situations.
Stating that food security is one of the most important issues in sustainable development, Khatunabadi emphasized: if we can manage water resources in the right conditions, we can pay attention to its environmental events while examining the issues of the footprint of water reduction.
He believed that providing sustainable food security requires comprehensive cooperation of global and regional countries, and added: food security is one of the most important issues in the security equations of a country, because it not only improves communication and relations between countries, but it can also create risks in several countries and regions. .
The former professor of Isfahan University of Technology, by raising the question of how international relations can be the answer to food security, stated: There are a number of legislative issues in this direction, but we can exchange our technology and knowledge by taking advantage of the opportunities.
He considered the increase in trade in countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, UAE and Türkiye to be important and said: This increase in trade interactions in Asia and Africa is considered very important, therefore, the review, stability and security mechanism of the food system should be taken into consideration by the participating countries to check the amount of trade and capital.
Khatunabadi emphasized: Based on UN research; When all members of the society have sufficient access to food variety at all times, they actually have a healthy and active life, so providing food security and easy access to food at reasonable prices can cause stability and stability among people.
Regarding the lack of water resources, sustainable food security will affected, he added: lack of access to sufficient water causes damages in the agricultural sector and the distribution of products, therefore, it is necessary to examine this issue to what extent it can be effective at the national level.
Khatunabadi considered the purchasing and financial capability of individuals and consumers important in the supply of food and said: having experienced huge price flactuation in the distribution and purchase of food products, the implementation and the trend of the programs should be checked to see if the purchasing power of the people has been looked into in these discussions.
The role of the private sector in providing food security is important;
 Esfandyar Khan Mandokhail, Chairman of the Pakistan Iran Business Council, while feeling pleased to be present in the beautiful city of Isfahan and this conference, stating that Asia is in a growing economic situation, said: identifying key issues and upcoming challenges should be investigated and paid attention to them.
He considered the issues of food security, climate change and the rapid development of settlements as the main challenges in the current situation and stated: these issues are completely intertwined and create many dangers for us, so that according to UNICEF statistics; “Food security is not a good situation in Asia and now nearly 75 million people are struggling with food security crisis”.
The chairman of the Pakistan Iran Business Council continued: Such conditions are progressing due to climate, economic and political changes, and these facts show why we are facing many challenges.
Stating that agriculture in many Asian countries is based on traditional methods, he clarified: We are currently facing the problems of lack of water resources, lack of capacities and proper productivity of advanced technologies and techniques in the field of agriculture, therefore, development and improvement in these fields is vital for survival.
He considered the role of the private sector in ensuring food security to be very important and said: We should be reassured that the private sector in the field of agriculture can provide its services, though minor.
Stating that it is important to formulate a series of fixed customs laws for the exchanges between the states, he said: to achieve these goals, we must create different transportation conditions with appropriate investment, so that by recognizing the benefits of trade liberalization, we can improve the situation of food export and import in the regions. For example, Pakistan has the ability to export meat and rice globally.
